PROJECTS

samuel-marsh-nuX3azGdzv0-unsplash.jpg

In collaboration with the Tahoe Prosperity Center and Berkeley Wood Lab, this project maps opportunities for regional small-scale, wood-based businesses that generate economic benefits while utilizing excess biomass thinned in local forest restoration initiatives across the Tahoe region. Through advancing wood entrepreneurship, we are working to support a Tahoe economy that promotes forest health, wildfire resilience, and community wellbeing. This project is generously supported by the North Tahoe Community Alliance’s TOT-TBID Dollars at Work program.

In an exploration of traditional Washoe (Wašíw) lands and culture, this short film offers a glimpse into the Indigenous roots of the Tahoe region: a world-famed site of natural beauty that continues to grapple with legacies of colonization, including in its ongoing development. As the Washoe recount efforts to revitalize cultural practices, language, and ways of life, we are brought on a visceral journey of identity and community – and left with a potent sense of how listening, respect, and reciprocity are central to connecting with and protecting the places we love, and our planet at large, for generations to come. This project is generously supported by the Tahoe Fund.
