About Us
Advancing collaborative, place-based solutions for ecological and community resilience
Our mission
The Tahoe Earth Institute is a nonprofit organization advancing place-based approaches to ecological resilience and stewardship in the Tahoe region and beyond. We focus on solutions that simultaneously foster community resilience and ecological health – and help build a deepened sense of place.
Our work recognizes that our collective wellbeing and long-term prosperity depend on our relationships with our environments. From how we use and steward our natural resources to the values and cultural paradigms we embody: our decisions, whether individual or institutional, have far-reaching impacts on the livability of our planet and our communities.
At the Tahoe Earth Institute, we develop collaborative projects that connect ecology and regional identity through applied strategy, partnership development, and public engagement. Convening partners across disciplines and sectors, we translate complex regional challenges into accessible narratives, community-engaged initiatives, and practical pathways forward: from locally rooted, regenerative economies to quieter forms of stewardship.
